Pregnancy/Antenatal outcomes with endometriosis/adenomyosis
Dr. Lateef Adekunle Akinola graduated from the University of Ibadan (UI) in 1985 with MBBS.
Since then, he has trained in Nigeria and abroad to earn a M.Sc. in Human Anatomy/Embryology, University of Lagos); PhD (Molecular Reproductive Endocrinology, University of Oulu Finland –where through his research, he cloned the gene responsible for estrogen metabolism in human and research animals). He is a Fellow of the RCOG, England, and FRCOG, Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He also got an MBA in Health Services Management, University of Plymouth, England to sharpen his health services management skills.
Dr. Lateef Akinola is a distinguished Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Reproductive Medicine Specialist. He is a tutor of tutors and an undergraduate/postgraduate teacher in various hospitals, home and abroad. He is an adjunct associate senior lecturer and seasoned senior research fellow at Centre for Clinical Trials, Research and Implementation Science, Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, College of Medicine, University of Lagos; Lagos, Nigeria.
He trained in the London Deanery and has worked as a trainee and consultant at St. Bartholomew’s Assisted Conception Unit, Royal London Hospital, Newham University Hospital, Luton and Dunstable Hospital, The Poundbury Fertility Clinic and The London Women’s Clinic. While working in these hospitals, he gained advanced specialist interest in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Minimal Access Surgery (Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy) and Fertility Medicine. He has a keen interest in molecular biomedical research, especially in ovarian steroidogenesis and folliculogenesis, as it pertains to assisted reproductive technologies (ART). His clinical research interests also encompass recurrent miscarriages, fertility optimization, PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and high-risk obstetrics. He has published extensively in the area of clinical/research interests in high-impact journals. He is happily married with children. He presently practices in Lagos as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Reproductive Medicine/IVF specialist at the Medison Specialist Women’s Hospital, Lekki, Lagos.
He is a member of the executive council and the Editor-in-Chief (EIC) for SOGON, Lagos Sector and AFRH. He is also a member of the British Fertility Society, European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).
